About the Faculty
Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences as an educational structural unit is the largest faculty of Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University, which implements his educational programs at undergraduate (BA) and postgraduate (MA)levels. From the 2021 it is supposed to be offered Doctoral Program in Theology as well.
Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, according to the University’s mission and plan, aims to prepare competitive and qualified students with high civic responsibility, professional ethics and with extensive and interdisciplinary competence.
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences implements 6 educational programs. Notably:
- Bachelor Program in Theology;
- Master program in Theology;
- Bachelor Program in International Relations;
- Bachelor Program in Political Science;
- Bachelor Program in Psychology;
- Bachelor Program in Sociology;
The academic and visiting staff which implement above-mentioned educational programs are both local and foreign professors whose lectures-seminars are conducted by using modern teaching methods. At the same time, there are foreign professors from partner Universities who visit the university in frame of academic mobility and held lectures and training courses for our students.
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences aims to develop students' professional skills. To achieve this, the faculty encourages students as much as possible to engage them in a variety of activities, such as panel discussions, trainings, debates and at local or international scientific conferences.
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences actively
collaborates with European universities and encourage students and staff to participate in exchange program such: Erasmus+, Bilateral exchange programs, FUCE scholarship. Last one is exclusively for students from the faculty Humanities and Social Sciences of Sabauni).
Conducting scientific activities is a priority for the faculty. To this end, numerous books, , articles, and magazines have been published and translated. The faculty publishes an annual scientific journals „Dialogue“ and the „Journal of Post-Soviet Studies“.
There are several research institutes and centers at the faculty:
- Institute of Post-Soviet Studies;
- Research Institute of Theology and Philosophy;
- Center for Social Teaching of the Church;
Involvement of students in research activities and projects is one of the main priorities of the faculty.
