Covid-19
Due to the situation caused by the new coronavirus pandemic in the country, Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University fully shares and adheres to the regulations and recommendations issued by the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia.
The "Instruction on Preventive Measures for the New Coronavirus" has been approved, with recommendations for university students, staff and guests.
According to the instructions:
The university area, offices and equipment are treated with a special disinfectant. Also, the work area is disinfected daily and waste is removed in a timely manner. Hand and surface disinfectants are available in the university auditoriums and corridors.
In addition to the activities undertaken by the University, it is important that students and staff on the campus follow the recommendations, namely:
Observance of sanitary-hygienic norms in the workplace (often wash / treat hands with soap or alcohol-containing solutions, etc.);
Do not shake hands when greeting each other and avoid contact with others (touch, etc.);
Avoid gathering, follow the recommendation by keeping a safe distance (not less than 2 m);
Cover with a clean towel or elbow when coughing or falling. Use a used towel and throw it in a container;
Avoid touching eyes, nose and face with hands. During the work period, ensure that the hair is tied / tightly fastened to minimize contact with other surfaces of the hair.
- The administrative staff of the University should use the personal protective equipment provided by the University while working;
- Wear a mask / respirator indoors for a period of time prescribed by law;
Do not disinfect the mask / respirator;
- The inner surface of the mask / respirator should be folded during removal;
If any part of the mask / respirator is visibly damaged or wet (damp), dispose of it in a suitable container.
Thermal screening is underway at the entrance of the university. If the person has a temperature, she/he will be taken to an isolation room, where the temperature will be checked again after a short time. In case of repeated temperature detection, the University will call an ambulance brigade.
Information for foreigners entering to Georgia
According to the amendments made to the Resolution N322 of the Government of Georgia on October 21, 2020 on the approval of the rules of isolation and quarantine, Georgian nationals, as well as their family members, will be placed in self-isolation for 8 days, according to the following rules:
A) A person arriving from a foreign country must present at the border checkpoints a document confirming the PCR examination conducted during the last 72 hours before the visit to Georgia, after which he/she will be subject to self-isolation;
B) if the person fails to submit the document confirming the PCR examination, he/she will be subject to mandatory quarantine;
The same rule applies to nationals and permanent residence permit holders of the following states when traveling by air from the same countries:
- Kingdom of Spain
- Grand Duchy of Luxembourg
- Kingdom of the Netherlands
- Republic of Poland
- Republic of Portugal
- Romania
- Republic of Greece
- Kingdom of Sweden
- Republic of Croatia
- Republic of Italy
- Republic of Cyprus
- Republic of Slovenia
- Republic of Iceland
Attention! This rule does not apply to international students. They are required to submit a document confirming the PCR examination conducted during the last 72 hours before the visit to Georgia and a 12-day quarantine, at their own expense. The following are not subject to isolation/quarantine when entering Georgia:
A) Members of official delegations of foreign countries / international organizations arriving in Georgia on an official visit - they must present at the border checkpoints a document confirming the PCR examination conducted during the last 72 hours before the official visit;
B) Nationals and permanent residence permit holders of the Federal Republic of Germany, the French Republic, the Republic of Latvia, the Republic of Lithuania and the Republic of Estonia if traveling by air to Georgia from the same countries.
The above-mentioned persons must present at the border checkpoints a PCR examination certificate conducted during the last 72 hours before entering Georgia or undergo a PCR examination at their own expense upon entering.
They will only be subject to isolation/quarantine if they have traveled outside 5 EU countries* in the last 14 days or if a PCR examination shows a positive result for a new coronavirus. Travel information must be entered in a special e-form to be filled out before departure.
* Germany, France, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia.
Except for the above mentioned categories, the restriction on entry to Georgia does not apply to:
- Representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited to Georgia and their family members;
- Family members of Georgian citizens, despite their nationality. (Spouse, children under 18 years old, relevant documents should be presented)
- Persons arriving in Georgia as part of humanitarian mission – if trip of such mission (doctors, volunteers, etc.) to Georgia becomes a necessity;
- Individuals who have been granted the status of stateless person by respective authorities of Georgia.
- Individuals holding status-neutral ID card or travel documents;
- Individuals having a refugee status in Georgia;
- Members of official delegations (will be decided on a case-to-case basis).
- Train and truck drivers, involved in transport of goods and services and airplane crew.
