On November 16, 2023, the Faculty of Business and Technologies and the Institute for Development Studies organized the 6th Annual International Scientific Conference in Development Studies "Opportunities to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals: Research and Development," at Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University.
The conference drew participants from both local and international partner universities, including professors from the universities of Poland, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia, Ghana, Uzbekistan, and Iran.
Tamar Aladashvili, director of the Environmental Information and Education Center, and professor Amal Nagah Elbeshbishi, representative of the UN Economic Committee, presented a report at the plenary session.
"At the state level, the greatest importance is attached to the achievement of sustainable development goals, addressing the contemporary global challenges we face. The mentioned conference serves as an optimal platform for the mutual exchange of information and knowledge, contributing to the promotion of new initiatives and the initiation of innovative projects. This holds global significance, as the achievement of sustainable development goals is impossible without international cooperation." Tamta Mikaberidze, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Technology at Sabauni.
“There are still many challenges in terms of achieving the targets set by "Agenda 2030," including raising public awareness, addressing disparities in achieving individual goals, managing uneven progress among countries, etc. Our conference, to some extent, addresses the need to activate the topic of sustainable development. Simultaneously, from interdisciplinary and intersectoral perspectives, it aims to contribute to the stimulation of valuable research and new initiatives."Professor Nino Papachashvili, head of the Institute for Development Studies.
